Hmm... not sure I would make that promise! Though I wouldn't
describe my soil as excellent, I am thankful for the excellent
drainage we have here, 5 blocks from Lake Michigan -- sandy clay,
I guess I would describe it. We amend it a lot and have a number
of raised beds, but most of the plants that "hate wet feet" do
just fine. I've never seen standing water anywhere in the beds
or lawn, even after inches of rain. A true blessing. And the beds
of moisture lovers, with amendments, look great too. Yes, in the
summer heat or drought, we do have to water, generally once a week.
