Barb:  Think of the old farmers trick for slopes or just saving soil
generally....Contour Plowing. On the downhill side use landscaping timbers,
stones or anything to keep down washing of soil.  Generally, in the Andes
mountains  and in Asia they do "Terracing", creating stair steps with
stones, usually, holding the soil.  If you make the tiers about 3 feet wide
you can stand on the down-hill side and work the row at a comfortable level.
Path about a foot wide between the base and the growing bed.  It's some bit
of work getting it done but well worth it.  A natural wide row garden that
shades itself...keeping weeds out and moisture in. Also it becomes a raised
bed on one side, warming the soil quickly.  :) have phun.  RFS At 02:11 AM
