G'day, Everyone --
I hear so much about raised bed for planting whatever.
Can any of you advise me on the best way to do it on a slope??
I have a garden on a slope that is always too wet to plant in the spring & I'm
tired of it.
It is about 20 feet wide & 30 feet long on a 15 degree slope lengthwise.
I am guessing on how much it drops but I think you get the idea.
After 25 years of gardening in this spot, I think the dirt is washing down the
hill.
Usually, when people garden using raised beds, they are small squares.
Maybee 3 feet square. But I don't think that would work in my case.
Could I somehow terrace it??
I thought about putting in 2"x10"s across it every 3 feet down the hill.
Would I have to put rods/stakes down to hold it?
If so, what should I use?
Should I treat the lumber somehow to make it last longer?
What other materials would you suggest?
Landscape timbers & RR ties are definately out!
Would that be doable/workable & how would I go about doing it?
All of your ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx for your help.
