Spirea Japonica and Buddleia

I've cut back my buddleia and spirea japonica, and simply put the cuttings
in water (buddleia 3 days ago in my living room, spirea yesterday in the
garage -- both for expediency, not logic!). Should I expect anything to
root? I'm running a plant sale for my garden club 5/8, and thought it
might be worth a try. What do you suggest might improve my results?
