All- I've been lurking on this list for a few months now, but since I have a suggestion
for you poppy lovers, I guess it's about time I came clean and introduced myself.
My name is Kathy Wilson, I live in eastern Washington state( very different from
the green of western wa.) and I've been designing gardens for several years, just
recently starting my own design consulting business.
As for ca. poppies- I grew up in Ca. and remember them as the first flower I ever
fell in love with. It is true they don't transplant well, but they are perhaps *the*
easiest annual to grow from seed! Suggestion though- how about trying some of the
newer varieties like "rose chiffon" or "apricot flambeau"? Thompson and morgan, and
several other larger seed houses carry them, and I've even seen "rose chiffon" in
discount stores! Good luck all! -Kathy Wilson
