Azaleas are in full bloom right now, and gorgeous. My husband would
like to dig up every other shrub in the yard and plant more; I have to
remind him they only look that way for about a month!
I had something curious happen, though, maybe someone can explain it. I
have a border of George Tabor (pink/white) and Formosa (fuschia)
azaleas. Last year, the flowers on one branch of the Tabor had flowers
on it that exactly matched the Formosa blooms. This year, the same
thing happened, except that the branch has grown and has more blooms.
This is a small terminal branch, in the middle top of the bush. The
other terminal branches lower on the same stem are still pink, so it's
not coming from the roots (I don't think they're grafted, anyway) Does
anyone know how that can happen?
I also have a clematis, 2 or 3 years old, that is (supposed to be) a
really pale lavender-pink. The first blooms of the season opened on it
last weekend, and they're purple!
Maybe I'm just losing my mind... I'll probably find it when I turn the
compost heap!
