Re: Dwarf Trees


I think the suggestion of Japanese maples is great; I would love to have
them, but we are too far north. I've seen it on the TV gardening shows
and there is a fantastic range of colors and forms.  
How about spring-flowering shrubs as well? I am lusting after the Star
Magnolias I see around town in other yards, but they might get too large
eventually (but probably can be pruned right after blooming).  And
Forsythia, and pink-flowering Almond, and a small ornamental cherry
whose name I don't  know (it has reddish spring leaves, gorgeous pink
blossoms and seems to stay small) are all others I admire and don't have
room for!  I  also have a colonnade apple which is about 12 feet tall
now but less than 1 foot wide, but it has not bloomed for me yet.
