Hi debbieo, In my garden the Verbascums such as 'Southern Charm', V. chauxii and
V. phoeniceum are delightful and most welcome on a dry slope. They grow a
dark green rosette and then send up 2-3 ft. spikes of pastel colors with a
contrasting eye. They are not invasive, but seed around. The excess babies
are easy to rogue out in the spring, or dig them up and give them to your
friends.
