Verbascums

I've grown Souther Charm in Zone 4 and it's done well. It never reseeded
and survived winters (though they have been mild the last few years). It
was easy to start from seed and transplanted well.
Other good verbascums to try:
V. bombyciferum (Turkish Mullein) - biennial. Produces a large, 5-6'
stalk of clear yellow flowers. It's quite a show stopper. The foliage is
white and fuzzy. It will reseed vigorously though and move around the
garden. Seedlings are easy to pull when young and transplant easily. I'm
trying the variety 'Artic Summer' this year.
V. widemannianum - biennial. 2-3' spikes of purplish flowers. I've had
it act as a perennial. It reseeds itself but it hasn't been a problem.
