First package of Perennials arrived!

Yipee! I got my first shipment in. From Shady Oaks I got one each of
hostas: Chartreuse Wiggles, lancifolia var. Thunbergiana and Verna Jean.
They are all dwarf or small according to the descriptions and the latter
was a free gift. I plan on putting them on the north side of the house
between the sidewalk and house. This is about 24" deep so I need smaller
growers here. I also recieved 3 each of an Ostrich Fern (matteuccia
struthiopteris) and Northern Maidenhair Fern (adiantum pedatum). The
first one gets 2' to 5' tall so it will go on the northwest side of the
house where it will have more room. The maidenhair is 1'-2' so should
fit in with the hosta.

Also I got a yucca filamentosa Color Guard. I will plant it in a sunny
part of the yard but some protection as it is suppose to be zone 5 and
we are borderline.

The last were 3 plants of Dutchman's Pipe vines.(aristolochia durior)
These plants are huge! between roots and tops, almost 3' long. They all
are soaking overnight. The vines are going on the western and southern
corner of my house. I have seen them growing elsewhere in town and they
provided very dense shade with large overlapping leaves. This should
help shade a hot corner of the house in the summer.

Hi ho! hi ho! it's off to spade I go!
