In a message dated 98-04-22 11:15:00 EDT, you write:
<< Seems to work so far and far less work than finding little
labels or using popsicle sticks and having the name wear off. Good luck
and enjoy your mystery garden!

Another technique I have seen is to buy a package of plastic picnic knives.
Write the label info on the blade of the knife with a Sharpie marker and then
stick the hand of the knife down in the soil. I don't think these would be
durable more than a season in the garden, but might work well for seedlings.
You could probably erase the writing with lighter fluid or paint thinner if
you wanted to reuse the knives in future years, but they're so cheap buying
new ones would cost less than the time of your labor in cleaning them up.
