Fireraven,
Here in zone 6 Datura metaloides(this one is with lavender smallish upfacing
flowers, on strong branching 3-4'plants ,with glossy large cut leaves with a
distinct odor when bruised)becomes a weed it re-seeds so heavily. Its rather rustic
but not unattractive. If you dont mind a zillion volunteer,no problem...You'd
virtually never have to replant again..I always allow several to develope to
maturity.I guess I rather like them and admire their tenacity growing here as they
do(high desert) in less than mild conditions.
The white (Datura)one with large pendulous tubes is rather pretty and some places
it will become a per.
but you didnt mention your zone.
IF your addressing Brugmansia(it is no longer classified as Datura) this is the
one seen so often with beautiful pendulous flowers of various
colors,white.orange.pink etc.;anything short of a zone 8B dont think it will
winter over for you,except inside.
Hope this helped you out.(all the above are available in seed form, from to name
just one ,Thompson & Morgan).
