Foul odor???? is the flower a burgundy/purple, almost brown color? If so,
it might be Arum palestinum, which is in the same family as calla and is
known for its foul odor. I've been trying to get one to bloom to see if I
can stand the odor, since I love the flower and would like to plant it out
in my garden.
Hope this helps!

So goes an old chinese proverb:
If you want to be happy for a few hours, get drunk;
If you want to be happy for a week-end get married;
If you want to be happy for a week, barbeque a pig;
If you want to be happy all your life long become a gardener
