Now, just to confuse you, I'm going to talk about var. epurparatus. :)
According to Mohlenbrock ("Guide to the Vascular Flora of Illinois"),
there are several varieties of Daucus carota (Queen Anne's Lace.
I don't remember any of the other ones, but I do remember that he
discusses var. epurparatus as a white to rose-colored variety *without*
the purple dot in the middle. I've seen populations of Queen Anne's lace
without that dot and often wondered if it was a white var. epurparatus...
