Ever heard of kudzu? Once it covers all the tree stumps and

Thanks for the info, Nancy...
I've been down your way...back in early May.....'94...or so. I think that
there is a place called Jacksonville.....outside of Little Rock. It wasn't
quite 110...but it was sure comfortable.
I never knew the name of that vine which turns the highways into
tunnels...but sort of neat to a northerner.
Two observations...
1- I don't know if my host was pulling my leg or not....but he made a
point of telling us not to lay on the grass....something about
''chiggers?'' biting or getting under your skin. Can you confirm?...or
am I way off base?.
2- (Remember...I'm going by memory here....)...but...Were there large,
serpentine mounds of earth running through otherwise quite flat
fields? Perhaps some kind of crop? Do you grow rice down there?
Hey!...thanks for asking about the greenhouse. Got the framework
and glass in my back yard now....We've been real busy at the
nursery...(and getting busier..)..so I've had to be satisfied with a cold
frame..(or sorts..) for now.
No white birch, eh? Shame.....but there are some nice cypress,
aren't there?
I'm not sure if this note would qualify for our 'perennial list' or
not...so
if you (or any one else..) would like to respond directly....my address
is ossprey@nb.sympatico.ca
Neil.....still looking FORWARD to an N.B. spring....(some of you
UpperZoners can only see it in the rear view mirror...)
