Hi, Val...
Several years ago, I started some inula helenium (aka elecampane) from
seed. This particular variety has large, coarse leaves and reaches a height
of about 6 feet in part shade, where it doesn't get much water. If I forget
to deadhead, I find lost of seedlings the following year. "Rodale's
Illustrated Encyclopedia of Herbs" says that the root of elecampane has
both medicinal and culinary use.
