Hi. Walnut trees do have these droppings that have an acidic stain
content of some sort. Definitely not good for things like car finishes.
Anyhow, I put a birdbath and a smallish flower bed under this one here
and aimed my medium toward good drainage characteristics. Dug about a
foot of soil off and replaced with topsoil to which I added peat moss,
sand, compost, and gypsum. I put marigolds and salvias around the
birdbath and they are doing OK. I figured to keep the walnut droppings
cleaned up and flush the bed with water a couple of times per growing
season. Good luck on your project.
