What's interesting about this subject is that even while I read all these
messages about the horrors of purple loosestrife and other invasive
exotics, I look over towards the TV and see a group of people holding
some sort of candlelight vigil for feral horses -- a/k/a wild (sic)
mustangs. These feral horses are no less exotic and no less destructive
than purple loosestrife or any other plant mentioned, yet I don't see
anyone holding candlelight vigils for purple loosestrife -- nor for the
fragile ecosystem these horses are destroying. Very interesting
double-standard going on here.
