* Following Nebraska's lead, Virginia has declared purple loosestrife a
noxious weed. Sale or transport of Lythrum salicaria and L. virgatum,
including all hybrids and cultivars, is now illegal. According to Va.
Dept. of Ag., loosestrife is already widespread throughout the state and
the legislative action is designed to prevent new infestations. (804) 786-2373.
