    I do not live in Oregon, so I can't give much in the way of advice. There are
others on this list from the liquid sunshine state. Perhaps they could answer your
question much better than I.
    You do seem determined to have Balloon flowers in your garden, so why not give
it a shot? Go ahead and give it the special mix on a bit of a mound or raised bed.
Begin with a larger plant to reward yourself. Certainly can not hurt anything. Let
me know how you do next summer.
    Just hold your moth the way you always do when gardening... with a bright
smile. Platycodon appreciate the extra light.
