pH meters

Ok. I know this does not directly concern perennials.... but if you do not
know the pH of the soil, your perennials can get into trouble.
It has occurred to me that a decent meter that checked the pH would be a good
thing to have. I am always constructing raised beds.... wonder what the pH ends up
being in each of them? The acidity can vary from location to location in the
garden based upon what I did over in that corner. Be hard to get an accurate
measure taking soil sample to the county extension office.... and I am less likely
to go through the trouble.
Any of you using these things? Perhaps with temp probe, other goodies? What
kind did you get.. brand name. price? Do you actually use the thing? How accurate
are they? Any of you out there have a scientific bent of the accurate and exact in
gardening?
