Elle, What are the variety names of the Cannas you planted? There are some
that would be at or under 3' tall. Besides heat, they really like water.

Glad you brought this up!
I ordered cannas this year and planted them after our last frost (the
one that killed all my seedling tomato and balsam plants). I had put
them into pots at frost because the weather was too awful to plant for
so long this year. They grew well and were nicely rooted when they went
into the gardens BUT none of them have gotten more than 3 feet tall and
I have had no blooms at all.
Did I stunt them? Do they take time to get going?
I love the thought of lots of cammas at the back of my cutting garden
and along the back of the yard and am so disappointed, not to mention
the cost!
I will mulch and cover them this fall, but we dont have harsh winters
here in the Willamette Valley of Oregon (Z8).
What else ought I to do?
