well said, Claire. I've remained silent on this topic because I didn't
want to become embroiled in a nascent flame <g> war. Arguing
about this is not much different than arguing about politics. Our
interpretation of the same political "facts" can be totally different.
I do, however, want to clarify one thing: when we refer to the word
"chemicals" we mean organic as well as inorganic chemicals, right?
We agree that just because something is "organic" or "natural" does
not necessarily make it "good". Is that true? Or shall we briefly
discuss the effects of Bt and pyrethrins on the environment?
I garden chemical-free, including Bt .... mostly. But today I will be
going out to rescue one of my perennial gardens & a mixed border by
using a hand-wiped application of glysophate on _Rosa multiflora_,
PI and _Lonicera japonica_ before they completely destroy
everything I've done there. Hand pulling and digging for the past 5
years has been unsuccessful.

way to greet the day.
