This was just the point I was trying to make.  I, too, rarely use 
herbicides or pesticides in the garden, but there are certain times 
when I can justify their use.  .

I may not completely agree with Jennifer's views, but respect them as 
she applies them to her own gardening.

With regard to the flamers:  I have one, but find I rarely use it, as 
I find it much quicker to remove the weeds by hand.   All it does for 
many weeds (e.g. dandilion, plantain) is to stunt the top and they 
sprout again quickly.
