Gene, Bill, Susan,Bob and all lovers of croscsmia,
Here in the south west corner of Indiana, Evansville, Crocosmia are
blooming their exotic little hearts out. My foliage is in great shape,
and I do absolutely nothing extraordinary to help them along. I received
the original corms from a friend, planted immediately in my amended clay
soil, in early spring I scatter Preem and mulch and NEVER water this
particular bed.(not that I don't think they would do better if I
did--BUT-- I have too many beds and this one would take 3 or more hoses
to reach) altho no expert, I feel the secret is the mulch which helps
cool the soil ect. I leave the corms (TUBERS) in the ground all winter.
(altho I must dig my Canna)
Chelone is now in full bloom here, and I enjoy it tremendously. (here
again, no watering but a little morning shade)
My purple Achemenes are all blooming in their hanging baskets and looking
very nice. This is a great old plant, do many of you grow them?
Gene, your Anemone and Aconitum sound so nice together, now you have me
lusting after yet more plants. (the devil will get you) some spring day
I will certainly come visit your gardens, they sound so inviting.
Dee Ann
