Re: physostegia

Hello Dee Ann,
Of all the Obedient plant cultivars grown I think I have finally settled on
the variegated version. Nice stems, good cream and green leaves and dusty/rose
pink blooms. The cream and green seem to set off the color of the bloom. They are
in bud, but no open bloom as yet. Probably not for a couple of weeks yet.
The reputation for aggressiveness in good soil preceded my first Physoteria.
When I planted mine in the garden I first set a circle of lawn edging into the
soil, about 4 feet in diameter. They can travel in a circle forming a tight,
upright, clump, but not wander into other plants and take over. When the circle
fills and they begin to come over the edge, I simply yank up the would-be
travelers.
