I have both Zagreb and Moonbeam in the same zone 5 Midwest garden and
they are quite well behaved - never spread, form a lovely mound, and are
about the same size. Don't know why your moonbeam became zagreb - cross
pollination (just guessing)? Mine are in partial shade - perhaps that
makes them better behaved?
Yes, I have taken a string trimmer to them to deadhead. Accuracy is not
my forte, so they end up looking a little ragged. This year I'm going
to try the electric hedge trimmer instead - easier to control. Even
being a stay-at-home-mom doesn't give me the patience or time to
individually deadhead all those dinky little spent blooms!
