Scabiosa atropurpurea 'Ace of Spades'. Everywhere I looked it is listed as a hardy annual, although I did see one person from west coast Oregon zone 8 who had it over winter. Several comments about it seeding itself quite well. Thompson-Morgan has seed, and I also saw it listed on several "trade lists." Do a search on Google and you'll come up with lots of info.
