Barbara, I am not familiar with 'Emberglow' but other Crocosmia are not hardy
to our climate. I have not grown crocosmia but many, many other tender
bulbs, corms, etc. and I store them just as bulbs or bulbs planted in pots
allowing to go dormant. When I start moving these inside I have one whole
bay in the 3 car garage filled with tender items preparing for winter
storage. Again in spring I plant many in a temporary pot to get started
early and then plant in the garden. Others I plant directly in garden or a
pot they will remain in.
Last fall we had construction men working on an addition to our home
(plant gallery) and as they watched my winter preparation activities, they
repeatedly ask,'you do this spring & fall'? If you love gardening and love
tropicals you do what you need to do.
