Re: Forestfarms Nursery

This is the first time I've ever sent a "me too" type message to any
list, ever. In fact, it's rare that I post on this list, but Duncan's "dis"
regarding Forest Farms motivated me.

I'm frankly stunned by your bad experience, Duncan. I'm right up
there with Bill on this 'un. Ohio may be far, but NJ is even farther.
Because of the shipping costs I only use them for the most difficult
to find or horribly expensive plants, but I put them right up there with
the very best: Heronswood, Roslyn, Plants Delight and so on.

The tubes are sort of odd, but I've always found the stock does
beautifully. When I have had any sort of an issue (very rare), my
interactions with customer service have been top notch.

There are several nurseries with whom I will no longer do business
because their return policy is brief. That's completely
understandable except that to me, a plant must thrive during their
first growing season with me AND survive the winter. I don't take
responsibility for a poor winter survival rate when it happens
repeatedly and only with a specific nursery. (Especially because I
use nursery beds for the first year or two.) As far as I'm concerned
that is poor stock. Forest Farms has never even come close to
entering this realm. Nothing from them has ever failed unless it was
clearly something I did wrong.

I suggest you (a) call them again and speak with someone in
authority (not the customer service person) to describe your
experience and (b) give them another chance.

Usual disclaimer .... I'm just a customer.
regards,
jaime
