This is true. When you consider putting up a fence, gates are part of your
gardening life. If you do not close the gates you know it in the morning so
it becomes part of your routine. You must be willing to put in a few gates
and remember to close them.

Marge, Ed patrols that fence line all the time looking for poles that get
wobbly in the rock here and that sort of thing. One small opening and the
word gets passed around or so it seems.

Is there anywhere out there where you can garden in the country and not be
mugged by deer regularly? If Ihad moved, I had no idea where that might have
been. I just knew that I was not going to dream all winter, plant all spring
and have it all destroyed by the 4th of July.

Our Box number before they gave us 911 numbers on the highway was Box No. 7.
They neighbors laughingly call this Stalag #7. Now we have numbers on a map
so the fire and ambulance can actually find us if necessary. They can laugh
all they want, not one of them can grow a patch of lettuce.
