I KNOW I'm going to regret saying this, but I am surrounded
by woodlands and farm fields and I have never had a deer eat
anything in my yard. I've seen hoof prints in the mud (back
when it used to rain here) and actually had three yearlings
walk up my street at 9am - while I was standing in the
driveway with my son and our dog, but that's the extent of
the deer in my area. I'm about 15 miles northwest of
Milwaukee. When I lived in Don Martinson's neck of the
woods (a closer in suburb of Milwaukee, more densely packed
with homes) I had awful trouble with deer and rabbits. Go
figure!
