Even though this is way off-topic for a perennial list (ahem :) I'm
going to contribute a link to an article that I read a few years back
about Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and links to cattle that made me swear
off on processed meat products.  I now only buy whole cuts of meat and
chop them myself for burgers and the like.

I've also found that I'm eating a lot less meat and really don't miss
it that much.

Hot and humid here...  The garden doesn't look too good this year, but
I'm trying.  I found a bunch of plants at a nursery in Chicago last week
for $2.99 a pot -- most are unusual species that I haven't seen in the
trade much.  Guess I'll be planting (and watering) today!
