I grow Starfire as well. Bought it six years ago (or is it more) in a gallon pot, and I still haven't divided it. The clump is about 2 ft across and blooms well. Never had a mildew problem. Do sometimes have the lower leaves get a bit crispy, but so do my helenium, asters and so on if we are having a dry summer. This year, thanks to the new well, I am watering once a week, and no problems.

I have a very large clump of Starfire in front of my living room
window. I love it, but it's quite prone to mildew. The flowers look
fabulous, but the leaves look ratty and crispy. I prefer Sandra, as
she seems to have overcome these problems and still give me that
*loud* accent.
