Marilyn, do you attempt wintering over the dark pennisetum and if so, how?

Steve,
I decided to try something really big and bold this year - Miscanthus
'Condensatus'. This is a huge one at 10-14 ft.! Mine are 8-9' already in 2
gallon pots and haven't started to form the purple flowers yet! I can't
wait to see this puppy in bloom! It has been a hot item here in the
nursery.
Another new-to-me grass is Molinia arundinacea 'Skyracer'. The foliage is
low & compact, but the flower stems grow sky high. Very dramatic. Using it
to best advantage in the garden has been a challenge for me.
The others I dearly love are Pennisetum setaceum 'Rubrum' (18") and
'Burgundy Giant' (5'). They are zone 8-10 tender perennials and used like
annuals, but you simply can't beat that dark burgundy blade and the puffy
pink foxtails. They make any container look lavish!
Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola' is still hot here, as is almost any blue
colored grass.

Hi all,
Was just putting together a little something on ornamental grasses and
thought I'd ask the group what's the latest and hottest. Last I heard,
Calamagrostis acutiflora Karl Foerster and Hakonechloa macra `Aureola'
were what were chic. But I tend to be out of touch.
