Wow Barb! Scary! We haven't had the West Nile Virus in the PNW that I'm
aware of, but everything works it's way west sooner or later. :(

I picked up (carefully with hands covered in plastic) a dead crow in the
yard a couple weeks ago and turned it over to a Jefferson County
representative for testing for West Nile Virus. I found out yesterday that
the test done up in Madison, WI was positive, so now I am being careful
about using mosquito repellant when working in the garden.
The incidence of cases in people is low, and fatal ones very, very low, but
do be careful out there!
