All those potted lemon trees in Italy are warehoused in the winter. Must be
done with care. We have not had a great many horticultural services in the
US because there has been no demand. There is one place on Long Island that
I know of, the only one I have heard of in the US. They store all those
potted trees you see in front of the hotels in NYC in good weather. Each
year more thing become available which is nice to see. There was a time when
beyond Woolworths you had to buy everything a bit unusual from a catalog. If
there are others elsewhere, they are probably for commercial plantings but in
Italy you can send your tree away for the winter. Thinking you can store a
car, a boat, board a dog, you should be able to store properly a very large
potted plant, usually a small tree.
