There used to be a GH here that would overwinter your Fuchsia baskets for
$3/month. When you picked them up in the late spring, they were all in
bloom, pest free and huge. I don't know how she did it! My one and only
attempt at overwintering Fuchsia baskets in my GH was a disaster!
Whiteflies like you wouldn't believe! That was the only time in 11 years of
greenhouse growing I have ever had Whiteflies and I never want them again!
I buy nice big starts for 50cents each and plant them 3-4 to a basket. They
are blooming now like there is no tomorrow......well, come to think of it
there isn't any tomorrow because they are left outside to freeze. (Of
course some winters they never do freeze).

In a message dated 8/8/02 3:33:16 PM Eastern Daylight Time,
In parts of Europe, a gardener can send his containers, especially small
trees in big pots off to winter storage which is rented space. In spring,
the plants are delivered back to the owners. I would like a place like that
around here.
