Re: perennials DIGEST V3 #25/ Azalea

Hello Walter,
Realize this is not the woodies list, but I have recently become
fascinated once more with the late blooming azaleas and rhodies. Was not
aware of the 'Pennsylvania' cultivar. Do you have a bit more of a
description for the plant... size, hardiness, color, etc.? If the weather
breaks and cools down a bit I hope to clear off beneath pines and begin
creating paths, creating rooms with azalea. Also to use them like you would
a perennial when dwarf or low growing 'ground cover type'.
Thanks for any assistance you can lend.

I make several visits to Westons every year picking up a plant or two.
Last acquisition was a weston intro valled Azalea 'Pennsylvania' which
blooms
early August and is fragrant. Also I grew PJM, but inherited a wall of
'Olga's' up by the barn. Blooming a week later than PJM and dark pinkish,
they are a favotite here. Try Olga!
