Used to be I couldn't GIVE away my local Oregon
"Ditch" Orange daylily, which I have all over my yard
now, from 1 planting I was given 26 years ago. Now I
have people wanting starts all the time...and I give
'em away like mad. These daylily are like black
ants..the more you get rid of the more you have!
I have set up a "Exuberant Garden" area after reading
the book that goes into great detail about hot colors
in the garden...and I really like the look of it,
especially since many of these hot colors come into
bloom after the more delicate pinks and pale blues and
yellows have died back.
I'm able to transition from soft spring pastels into
hot summer colors in the same general gardening
area-lots of varigated leaves help and hardy fuchsia
for texture makes a great hot garden look in what was
a calm garden area a few months ago.
