Since you did not get an answer, I will take a stab at this. Involucrata
dries up in midsummer and goes dormant for me. If I want it to stay green
and blooming, I have to fertilize and water for a while to bring it back. It
does seed around, very little. They are always just a few seedlings. Since
you plant it to weave in and out of other plants, I suppose the condition of
the plant is not too imporatnt but it does not bloom past midsummer here
unless given some TLC. Also the parent plant will often die though it is
rated as a hardy plant so maybe it is a short lived plant. What I have are
often seedlings which bloom the first year. This is a bloom that is always a
beautiful surprise when you find one open.
I don't know the other form and am going to look it up today. It is alway
nice to have tip like that, Merri.
