Re: Caladiums was: dahlias

Well, mine have come back the same so far...but, with plants, you
never know:-)

I have read that some are not easy to keep going because some stock
from Florida is infested with virus, but I'm growing the white leaf
with green markings and it has returned nicely for me for the past
few years that I've had them. I had some red leaf with green that
never returned, but I cannot remember if I tried watering them over
winter as the pot looked so dry and thus lost them or what happened.

The only way you'll find out is to try it...what's to lose? :-) A
pot doesn't take up much room in the corner where mine get shoved:-)

If you do give it a whirl, don't be alarmed in spring when you dump
out the pot to find this dried up item that is hard to tell top from
bottom (unless it's already started to sprout, which I have had
happen). It may look dead, but it likely ain't...you might have a
time retrieving them from the dried out concrete in the pot...and you
may find that there are more little ones in there than you
remembered.

bought this plant was due to the striking perfect colors in the
leaves... not muted, or unbalanced... as in a spot there... as in
perfect red that matches the outside green. Hopefully that makes
sense to someone here... :(
