Colin, are your Penstemons doing well this year. I can't live all that far
away from you - Horley in Surrey, close to the Kent border. All my plants
are still there (no, I think I lost two over the winter) but there are very
few flower spikes. Normally, I would expect them to be covered by this time
of year, but a plant sends up a flower spike, waits for that to fade before
sending up the next. I am deadheading. Some of the plants have sent up no
flower spikes yet. Lots of lush green growth though.
Wondered if it had anything to do with our incredibly wet summer. This is
the first year ever that I've rarely had to even water my pots, and they're
all thriving.
