Walter, the only way I've wintered it over in Zone 6b (Cincinnati) is by 
putting cuttings in water in the house in the fall. Winter here will 
definitely kill this plant. But this is not the strobilanthes that the 
original posting referred to if I remember correctly. But it's a very 
handsome plant.
