The best Lobelia for me have been pink flamingo . It has the vigor of the
Lobelia siphilitica and is hardier than the ones that are sold at nurseries.
It has the thick stems of siphilitica I had pink flamingo for several years
until I accidentally pulled it up and left a giant weed! For some reason
they are not available. There used to be a scarlet but now there is a deep
red available. Nothing shows up on search engines. There is a deep red and
a blue available. I finally found seed and now have seedlings. One of them
has a spike so I will know if it is going to be a good color. Now I see
there is a compliment seed mixture. I have never got Queen Victoria to grow
even as an annual. The wild ones are easier and will last 2-3 years. They
grow wild in northern Illinois and northern Michigan usually in mud or even
standing water.
