RE: Shade Perennials


Oh Cheryl.... and Veratrum niger for your shade - wonderful striking pleated
foliage. Don't even care whether it blooms or not!  Also soooo many great
Tricyrtis - T. Tojen works here. Got "Golden Leopard" this spring, hoping I'll
get blooms this year.  And I have Phlox paniculata "Elizabeth" growing in
shade here - has variagated foliage so really brightens up the shade.  And my
current favourite (that changes every day) is the Japanese Forest Grass
Hakonechloa macra. "Aureola" works fine and "Naomi" takes a lot of shade. Both
have variegated foliage.



Like you, I'm losing a lot of my sun. Gardens are an evolution - and I still
have a dozen plants to get into the ground...
