Our newly acquired adult cat loves our nepeta, as does our
next-door-neighbor cat. Neither of them discovered the plants until they
were very well established, so I don't know what cats would do to young
plants, but they have a great time with the big ones -- they bite at the
flowers, rub their heads on the leaves -- doesnt' seem to have caused any
problems.
Hope this helps!

So goes an old chinese proverb:
If you want to be happy for a few hours, get drunk;
If you want to be happy for a week-end get married;
If you want to be happy for a week, barbeque a pig;
If you want to be happy all your life long become a gardener
