Re: Dividing Hostas

Hi, Margot. I find that hostas can be divided almost anytime during the
growing season. I remove some of the outer large leaves in each clump to
compensate for lost roots, mulch the new divisions and keep them well watered
and they do fine. September is still early enough for me here in zone 6, but
Oct. would be pushing it a bit. The plants need to get established before
cold weather or you run a risk of frost heaving.

October?
