RE: daylilies


I'm in Lake Mills, Wisconsin.  We are on the border between zone 5 and 4, some winters we've gotten a few days of -35F but usually doesn't bother anything, because I have everything well muclhed and we usually have a foot or two of snow on top of that!!  I really don't think it will matter what zone your in.  My guess is that the warmer the zone the more the plants might need to be cut back, for rejuvination purposes.

I recently sent a list member in Hawaii (zone 11) @ 15 daylily plants/multiple bulbs for her to try and naturalize in her yard.  My books say they are hardy in Zone 11. The only question we have is how important it is for them to get a freeze, because they definitely won't there.  It'll be interesting to watch the results!

Thanks for the information, Patti.  What Zone and state are you in?  Don't
know if that makes a difference with the cutting back of day lilies or not.
