I was wondering if anyone had problems with snakes hiding in hostas.

you divide and move them in the spring just after the leaves are up and
open. They tend to grow the rest of the season without much stress. I
have moved them in the summer when the plants are full grown, and with lots
of water they recover but the leaves will tend to droop over more than
normal. I also transplant in the fall and cut back the foilage so there
isn't as much of it. If it's after the first killing frost but the ground
is still soft, you can just divide the root balls. Anyway I've done it
they have always come back the next year, and that is why I have hostas
encircling all my beds as border plants and one large multi-variety hosta
bed! Hope this helps.
